HEALTH 2 HEALTH OUTLOOK Dear friends and community members, The start of a new year is associated with new beginnings and enjoying a renewed sense of optimism for the days ahead. Even 107 years after Dameron’s founding in 1912, the prospect of moving this organization forward to make this community a healthier and better place to live never fails to bring us a sense of excitement. We hope that this expanded issue of Health Outlook provides you with information that will help you take the next step toward better health! A partnership with heart We recently expanded our Stanford Cardiac Surgery Program with the addition of another cardiothoracic surgeon from Stanford Medicine: Maria Currie, MD. Dr. Currie joined our team last year and is practicing full-time at Dameron. She previously specialized in heart and lung transplants at Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto. We’re fortunate to have a surgeon of her caliber on our team. She joins our program’s medical director, Eric Keyser, MD, who also is a Stanford cardiothoracic surgeon. Together they offer university- level cardiac surgery services right here in Stockton. We are here when you need us Dameron’s Emergency Department (ED) has nearly completed its expansion to increase our capacity to provide emergency care in a pleasant, modern setting— including a spacious new waiting area. The expanded Fast Track area will soon provide patients with timely care for their less severe injuries or illnesses and minimize the time patients spend in the ED while ensuring that they get the right care at the right time in the right place. See pages 10 and 11 for more details. Increased access to our services You might be surprised to learn that Dameron offers a full array of outpatient diagnostic imaging services. We partner with your physician to help them understand what’s going on inside your body so they make the best treatment decisions. We also offer interventional radiology services, which use radiology image guidance to precisely treat things like vascular diseases, tumors and back pain. We offer services like x-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds and MRIs all in one place—without scheduling delays and long wait times. We even offer free valet parking, so you can easily get the diagnostic services you need. Expanding for the future The Dameron Occupational Medicine Center has relocated to a beautiful new location. It is located on the third floor of the new, three-story Dameron Medical Plaza, centrally located at 2021 W. March Lane. Our new facility offers convenient access and parking in a professional setting. The new Occupational Medicine Center offers expanded capacity for timely care of company employees in a modern, healing environment that includes work site wellness services, testing services, medical examinations and treatment of work-related injuries. We’re delighted to offer local employers this level of service and convenience for their employees’ health. Our new online home As your partner in health, Dameron is ready to support you at work and at home by providing a variety of services and information to restore and improve your health. We’ve just made that even easier by redesigning our website with you in mind. The newly redesigned Dameron website, dameronhospital.org , features an intuitive design that makes it easy to find out more about the excellent care we offer to help you be your best. The new site features the latest in health news and a searchable health library to help you stay informed and take charge of your health. It’s our way of helping everyone in the community enjoy the positive quality of life they deserve and reminding them that Dameron remains ready to serve now and into the future. I hope you have a healthy new year. Yours in health, Lorraine P. Auerbach President and CEO
