MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI) is a noninvasive medical test that physicians use to diagnose medical conditions. The test uses a powerful magnetic field, radio waves and a computer to produce detailed pictures of the inside of your body. Formmeets function The MRI unit at Dameron uses a cutting- edge, 1.5T 23X software platform to see organs, blood vessels, bones and joints and ensure that they are normal in size, shape, appearance and location. The platform provides radiologists and physicians with state-of-the-art analysis to help target abnormal growths—such as tumors—or check for bleeding, abnormal fluid, blockages in the flow of blood or bulges in the blood vessels (aneurysms). In addition to the excellent imagery our MRI unit provides, the machine itself is designed with the patient in Room with a view mind to help maximize comfort while delivering uncompromised image quality. The larger unit accommodates larger patients, children and people with claustrophobia. Our MRI also offers radiologists greater patient positioning freedom and access. “The spacious environment, combined with our leading-edge software platform, not only helps reduce exam time, but it provides improved patient comfort,” says Darlene Crockett, Director of Imaging. “The exam surface in our MRI unit even has different cushion densities to help alleviate pressure points for a more relaxing exam. It’s very inviting to patients and very user-friendly for radiologists and physicians.” Quality and convenience Dameron’s MRI service is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. And you don’t have to be a hospital patient to access our imaging services. If your physician determines that imaging services are a necessary part of your care, you can specifically request for them to schedule your appointment at Dameron Hospital. As an added benefit, we also offer free valet service at the main entrance to make your visit as convenient as possible. See what’s ahead Our MRI service is currently being delivered using a mobile MRI coach with a state-of-the-art General Electric MRI unit. This coach will be used until our permanent MRI suite is completed in the coming years.
