6 HEALTH OUTLOOK DAMERON HOSPITAL recently opened its Emergency Department (ED) Fast Track area to the public. The new area, adjacent to the recently remodeled ED waiting area, is three times larger than the previous Fast Track and is designed to treat patients who need immediate attention for less severe illnesses or injuries, such as cuts, sprains, bruises, scratches, sore throats, flu, ear infections and minor rashes. Dameron’s Fast Track provides timely treatment for patients whose medical conditions aren’t severe enough to require emergency care. But since the Fast Track is an extension of the ED, we can quickly get you the care you need or even admit you to the hospital if your condition is more serious than initially assessed. Compared to the previous Fast Track, the new area offers four additional patient beds (nine total) that are double the On the Fast Track previous size, as well as an expanded and centralized nursing station that is triple the size of the former space. Other enhancements to the new Fast Track Unit include: X X New HVAC systems with HEPA filtration. X X High-efficiency LED lighting for a brighter, yet warm, feel throughout the hallways and patient bays. X X Specialized overhead exam lighting in two patient bays. X X A dedicated high-speed tube station for quick delivery of supplies from the hospital and dispatch of blood or other specimens to the lab. X X Large patient tracking monitors on both sides of the nursing station. X X Dedicated restrooms in the Fast Track area. X X Medical air, oxygen and vacuum connections built into each patient bay. X X Nurse charting stations at each patient bay. X X Upgraded nurse call system with code-blue alerts.
