Best ER and staff. Can’t thank them enough!” “Best hospital ever! The ER is amazing! I was treated so well. My wait time was maybe 10 minutes. I was very happy with the staff. Everything was done quickly and professionally. I will definitely come back to this hospital and refer others to Dameron as well. The care was phenomenal! Thank you!” “I only had a brief wait time in the ER, and then I had the full attention of all that was needed for my care. If I had to go to an emergency room again, I would definitely choose Dameron.” What patients say about Dameron Hospital’s emergency care primarily is used to care for patients with symptoms of a heart attack (see STEMI designation in the following paragraph) and perform procedures such as emergency angioplasty or percutaneous coronary intervention, also known as an emergency PCI. This procedure involves inserting an image-guided catheter into a patient’s arteries, finding the blood clot that is causing the heart attack, clearing the clot and, finally, inserting a balloon device and stent to keep the artery open. The lab also offers the latest miniaturized Micra transcatheter pacemaker systems (see article on Page 4) and features the region’s first peripheral lumivascular catheter system, which is used to restore blood flow in blocked arteries in the legs (a condition known as peripheral artery disease, or PAD) using leading-edge technology. Designated STEMI heart attack receiving center. The San Joaquin County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency has designated Dameron as an ST-elevation myocardial infarction, or STEMI, heart attack receiving center. Patients who show symptoms of an acute heart attack (or acute myocardial infarction) when tested by paramedics with an EKG are immediately brought to Dameron for care. Our ED has met the rigorous guidelines to receive this designation, including the 90-minute goal of restoring blood flow. Comprehensive stroke care. Designated as a Primary Stroke Center and a recipient of the American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines–Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award, Dameron is proud to offer some of the fastest and most effective treatments for stroke, including clot-busting drugs that can save patients from brain loss. Dameron’s telestroke program with Stanford Medicine also provides 24/7 communication with stroke- trained Stanford neurologists so patients can always be treated quickly to preserve brain function in the critical early onset of stroke. Intensive care unit (ICU). Patients in our 12-bed ICU have an entire multidisciplinary healthcare team, which provides post-procedure recovery and general medical and surgical critical care. These specialists include physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pulmonologists and social workers who are trained critical care specialists. Wound care. The wound care specialists at Dameron have extensive experience with some of the most advanced treatment options available for healing wounds. Emergency social work/ care management services. These services are provided around-the-clock for patients and family members admitted through our hospital. Our care team offers comprehensive counseling and crisis intervention services.
